Scripture Memory Verses - Cadets 2018

Cadet - God and His characteristics

Psalm 1
Blessed is the one
    who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
    or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
    and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
    which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
    whatever they do prospers.
Not so the wicked!
    They are like chaff that the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
    nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
    but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
    He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
    he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
    for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
 through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.

Psalm 121

A song of ascents.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
    where does my help come from?
My help comes from the
Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
    the
Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the
Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

Matthew 6:5-15

“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
“This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
    on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
    as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,

    but deliver us from the evil one.
14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

3 Ecclesiastes 3

2 生 有 时 , 死 有 时 ; 栽 种 有 时 , 拔 出 所 栽 种 的 也 有 时 ;
3 杀 戮 有 时 , 医 治 有 时 ; 拆 毁 有 时 , 建 造 有 时 ;
4 哭 有 时 , 笑 有 时 ; 哀 恸 有 时 , 跳 舞 有 时 ;
5 抛 掷 石 头 有 时 , 堆 聚 石 头 有 时 ; 怀 抱 有 时 , 不 怀 抱 有 时 ;
6 寻 找 有 时 , 失 落 有 时 ; 保 守 有 时 , 舍 弃 有 时 ;
7 撕 裂 有 时 , 缝 补 有 时 ; 静 默 有 时 , 言 语 有 时 ;
12 我 知 道 世 人 , 莫 强 如 终 身 喜 乐 行 善 ;
17 我 心 里 说 ,   神 必 审 判 义 人 和 恶 人 ;

Chinese Union Version (Simplified) (CUVS)

Ecclesiastes 3 There's a Right Time for Everything

1 There's an opportune time to do things,
a right time for everything on the earth:
2-8 A right time for birth and another for death,
A right time to plant and another to reap,
A right time to kill and another to heal,
A right time to destroy and another to construct,
A right time to cry and another to laugh,
A right time to lament and another to cheer,
A right time to make love and another to abstain,
A right time to embrace and another to part,
A right time to search and another to count your losses,
A right time to hold on and another to let go,
A right time to rip out and another to mend,
A right time to shut up and another to speak up,
A right time to love and another to hate,
A right time to wage war and another to make peace.
9-13 But in the end, does it really make a difference what anyone does?
I've had a good look at what God has given us to do—busywork, mostly.
True, God made everything beautiful in itself and in its time—but he's left us in the dark,
so we can never know what God is up to, whether he's coming or going.
I've decided that there's nothing better to do than go ahead and
have a good time and get the most we can out of life.
That's it—eat, drink, and make the most of your job. It's God's gift.

14 I've also concluded that whatever God does,
that's the way it's going to be, always.
No addition, no subtraction.
God's done it and that's it.
That's so we'll quit asking questions and
simply worship in holy fear.
15 Whatever was, is. Whatever will be, is.
That's how it always is with God. God's Testing Us
16-18 I took another good look at what's going on:
The very place of judgment— corrupt! The place of righteousness—corrupt!
I said to myself, "God will judge righteous and wicked."
There's a right time for every thing,
every deed—and there's no getting around it.
I said to myself regarding the human race,
"God's testing the lot of us, showing us up as nothing but animals."
19-22 Humans and animals come to the same end—humans die, animals die.
We all breathe the same air. So there's really no advantage in being human.
None. Everything's smoke.
We all end up in the same place—we all came from dust,
we all end up as dust.
Nobody knows for sure that the human spirit rises to heaven or
that the animal spirit sinks into the earth.
So I made up my mind that there's nothing better
for us men and women than to have a good time
in whatever we do—that's our lot.
Who knows if there's anything else to life?
